Colour

After using the studio I felt like I should study the use of colour a little more in depth as I wanted my final shots to be effective under the influence of colour.
The image above is by a child photographer named Cormac Byrne - As you can see the image has a lot of strong, bold colours. The saturated colours create a deep impact when viewing the photograph.. the key in using strong colours is keeping the composition simple- like in this photograph the child is central to the image which allows her to be the central focal point to the shot- this lessons the impact of the colours and keeps it simple yet really colourful and effective.

The above image was taken by Doris Ullmann of 'Labourers hands'.  The photograph shows the viewer that monochrome colours can be really effective - not only bright, bold colours.
Colour photography is not only about strong colour but can be even more effective when very subtle and almost monochrome. When editing my images I will allow myself to see the images desaturated swell as high hue/saturation as it is a good way of controlling my colour in post-production.

Above is a image of plant pots against a bright terracotta coloured wall - this photograph demonstrates how the use of colour can become the main subject of a photo, with the exaggerated hue of the photo swell as the dominant colour being a primary colour. The photo appears simple yet extremely full of life. The colour terracotta creates a warm mood to the image and allows the viewer to relax as the image isn't too busy.
